Privacy Policy
What we collect
Account information. Your email address — it is both your login (we use email verification links, so there is no password) and where member letters are delivered.
Your use of the product. The companies you watch; arguments you track; searches you run (including Hunt queries); and product interaction events (for example: opening a filing citation, running a company read, opening a letter, clicking a shared link). We use these to operate the Service (e.g., sending you a letter when a watched company files) and to understand which features work.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, your subscription status, and the card’s last four digits and expiry for display — we do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe’s handling of your data is described in Stripe’s privacy policy.
Technical basics. IP address, browser type, and similar log data, collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure for security and operations. We use Plausible Analytics to count page views and referrers in aggregate; it sets no cookies, stores no identifier for you, and does not follow you to other sites. We do not use third-party advertising analytics.
If you contact us. The contents of your message and your contact details.
We do not collect brokerage credentials, holdings quantities, cost basis, or account balances. If a future portfolio feature accepts ticker lists you provide, those are stored as part of your account like watched companies. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
What we do with it
- Operate the Service: authentication links, watches, letters, the Report, billing, support.
- Improve the product: aggregate usage analysis (which surfaces are used, where readers stop).
- Protect the Service: rate-limiting, abuse and fraud prevention, security logging.
- Communicate: transactional and Service email always; product updates only with an opt-out available.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. There is no advertising on the Service.
Who processes it for us
We use service providers to run Teniq, each receiving only what their function requires: hosting and infrastructure (Vercel; Render), our database provider Neon, email delivery (Resend), payments (Stripe) and aggregate analytics (Plausible). These providers process data on our instructions. Some are located in the United States; by using the Service you understand your information may be processed there.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Teniq or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply to previously collected data until amended with notice).
Retention
- Account data and your monitoring records are kept while your account exists. Your watch records are part of the product (the dated record is the point), so they persist while you keep the account — including records frozen after a membership lapses.
- If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except what we must retain for legal, tax, or security purposes (e.g., payment records) — retained only as long as required.
- Email delivery and security logs are retained for 90 days.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, export, deletion: email support@teniq.co and we will respond within 30 days. Account deletion removes your personal data as described above.
- Email: product-update emails include an unsubscribe link. Transactional and Service emails (login links, letters for companies you watch, billing notices) are sent as long as your account is active; stop them by un-watching companies or deleting the account.
- Cookies: we use the cookie that keeps you signed in, and — if you arrived through a link we posted — one that records which post brought you, so we can count that. We do not use advertising cookies, and our analytics sets no cookie at all.
- Depending on where you live (e.g., the EEA/UK under GDPR, California under the CCPA), you may have additional statutory rights — to access, delete, correct, port, restrict, or object, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these requests via the contact above. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.
Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the data we hold: encrypted connections, access controls, and a passwordless design that means there is no Teniq password database to breach. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
Changes
We will post any changes here with a new effective date, and notify you by email or in-Service notice if the changes are material.
